Tis the season to be dreaded

In anticipation of all the whining about to ensue over the commercialization of Christmas, just let me say, quoting myself, "We live in a nation whose economic engine is driven by capitalism. It surrounds us. We embrace it as the best economic system in the world. We defend it with the lives of our young men and women who go to war to keep it up and running. We resist any and all attempts to curb its unfettered ability to make one percent of us obscenely wealthy. If it does what it does best at this time of year, profitize our emotions and relationships with family and friends it's because it's doing what it's designed to do. There's not a snowball's chance in Hell you're going to have a Norman Rockwell / Currier and Ives holiday season without someone lining their pockets. So, get over it.
