The mood in Washington has been tense, to say the least. Donald Trump has had his panties in a bunch over the media for ages, and now there’s no place for reporters within the halls of the Capitol. Politics and reporting have always gone hand in hand, but as of today the Senate Rules Committee has put a stop to the common scene of reporters following a senator with their recorders and microphones. The Rules Committee has issued these strict rules in an effort to staunch the media and now, in order to get interviews with senators, reporters must get prior approval from the senator they wish to interview, and the Rules Committee staff. This is being seen as a direct blow to the freedom of press, because many of the interviews that take place are rarely scheduled.
